Business Advising:
Understanding the impacts contentious litigation can have on a business, Lori helps businesses tackle their legal issues as they arise in an effort to help avoid costly litigation, regulatory issues and the like. Lori is adept at coming to know and understand your business and its needs, researching thorny issues, and coming up with policies and procedures or other solutions to address problems in a thoughtful and business-friendly manner.
Litigation & Appellate Expertise:
Lori has over 17 years of experience litigating business disputes in state and federal court and AAA and JAMS arbitrations, including those involving breach of contract, business torts, unfair competition, unfair debt collection and credit reporting, and fraud. Her litigation clients span a variety of industries, including banking and lending, real estate, and healthcare.
Lori is highly effective both inside and outside of the courtroom, has strong writing and analytical skills, and often wins cases "on the papers" without the need for trial. To the extent appellate work is needed, either to affirm an award for her client or to obtain additional relief for her client, Lori has successfully represented her clients' interests in courts of appeals as well, including in the Ninth Circuit and the California Supreme Court.
Above all, she is pragmatic, choosing the right battles for her clients to reach a favorable result with efficiency. To that end, she maintains continuous communication with clients about case strategy, considering not only likely outcomes but, also, how the case may affect the client's business and future plans.
